Disney suspends all activities in Russia

March 10 (Reuters) – Walt Disney Co (DIS.N) said on Thursday it would suspend all operations in Russia, including content and product licensing, Disney Cruise Line operations, National magazine and touring Geographic, local content productions and linear channels.

“Given the relentless assault on Ukraine and the escalating humanitarian crisis, we are taking steps to suspend all other activities in Russia,” the media and entertainment company said.

Disney said some businesses, including linear channels and content and product licensing, will take time to shut down due to contractual nuances, while other business streams will shut down immediately.

The company had earlier announced that it would halt the theatrical release of films in Russia. Other Hollywood studios, Warner Bros. and Sony Pictures Entertainment, also made such a move last month in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
